Race for the Cure 2008

Entry for 9/16/08
On Saturday, September 14, 2008 I joined Race for the Cure 2008. A friend of mine lost her mother to the battle against breast cancer seven years ago. In memory of her mother, a group of friends raised money and went to Central Park for the 5K walk.
During the walk, I saw so many survivors and people that had lost loved ones. This made me realize that everyone is affected by this life-threatning disease.
About a year ago, my husbands aunt was diagnosed with breast cancer. Luckily with treatment she has beat the odds and is cancer free. It meant alot to know that the money I raised would go towards finding a cure. It was one of the most rewarding experiences. I'm so proud of myself for being a part of such a great cause. I plan to be a part of the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure next year.
